Call for Papers Extended

Germany’s largest and most important conference on geothermal energy will again take place this year in Potsdam. The DGK will convene at the Kongresshotel Potsdam from October 20 to 22. Anyone wishing to present a paper there now has until June 15 to submit their abstracts.

With around 600 participants, the DGK set a visitor record last year. The BVG aims to build on this success—and has a strong regional partner in the GFZ Helmholtz Centre for Geosciences. In addition, Hungary is the partner country for this year’s congress. There, the Hungarian Geothermal Association (HGA) is sending a strong signal in favor of utilizing the geothermal potential that has remained largely untapped to date and is strengthening European exchange in the context of the heat transition.

Kicking off on October 20, the workshop day will cover a wide range of topics, with field trips and evening events rounding out the program.

Young researchers are also invited to participate in the “Science Bar.” The poster competition offers the opportunity to present bachelor’s, master’s, or doctoral theses on the topic of geothermal energy to a broad audience of experts. The best presentation will also be awarded the Young Researchers’ Prize by the German Geothermal Association (Bundesverband Geothermie e.V.).

The new deadline for abstract submissions is June 15, 2026.  All information about the DGK and the Call for Papers can be found here. If you have any questions regarding submissions, please contact the organizing team: dgk(at)geothermie.de
